The shaft end glands of screw conveyors used in metallurgy, mining and chemical industries are widely sealed with packing. Since the pulverized coal has a particle size of 200 mesh, is in the form of fine powder, and has a certain fluidity, a lot of pulverized coal often leaks due to loose sealing at the head shaft end of the conveyor. Asbestos packing, oil-impregnated wool felt, oil-impregnated asbestos rope and flexible graphite ring have been used as sealing packing, but the leakage control effect is not satisfactory. Powdered coal leaks out from around the equipment every day, which is wasteful, pollutes the environment and affects civilized production.
The experiment was carried out on the screw conveyor, that is, drilling a through hole, tapping, and installing an oil nozzle on the flange outer ring of the head packing gland, and processing two oil grooves in the gland hole wall to communicate with the oil nozzle hole. Use a grease gun to press grease from the grease nozzle and let it enter the oil groove to fill the matching gap between the surface of the rotating shaft and the inner hole of the gland. The original asbestos packing remains unchanged. This structure allows the pulverized coal to pass through many Secondary sealing, achieving good sealing effect. After field testing, the conveyor equipped with a grease nozzle is obviously better than the one without modification. Practice has proven that this method is effective and can extend the service life of the spiral shaft.
Please note the following two points:
1. The gland must be filled with lubricating grease every 3-4 days, otherwise the pulverized coal will still leak out after the grease is exhausted or dried up.
2. After each assembly and disassembly, the gland screws must be tightened and inspected for about one month after the machine is started and run to ensure that the packing and the shaft are tightly fitted. But don't press it too tightly. You can adjust the gland bolts according to the actual situation later.
